MY STORY

Working Integratively

At Peak Pathways Counselling I aim to provide a compassionate and confidential therapeutic space which will allow you to access the support you need to heal and grow.

I have studied various forms of therapy and spent time working with survivors of trauma and abuse at Crossroads charity in Glossop. I have learned that every client has their own individual needs from therapy, and that no singular style of working has all the answers.

This has led me to working in an integrative style, which means being flexible and responsive to the needs of each individual client, tailoring to your needs and taking a whole-person approach to your therapy.

Following on from my experience of providing therapy I decided to set up my own counselling practice in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Peak District.

I believe that most people at some point in their lives have felt lost and confused, in the darkness looking to find some sign of hope or direction. We may wonder why we feel or act a certain way and want to explore reasons. During difficult times, we can also feel alone and lacking that supportive relationship to listen to our feelings without judgement. We may have shame in needing help, but there is no one on earth who has not needed support at some point.

I aim to offer that help and support, so if this description sounds familiar to you I invite you to get in touch for a chat to discuss your options.

WHY WORK WITH ME

My Counselling Approach

A Psychotherapeutic Approach

I am trained in psychodynamic counselling, which aims to explore deeply rooted issues and the intergenerational patterns behind our emotions, behaviours and relationships. This knowledge, and my interest in childhood attachment underpins the way that I work, providing a caring therapeutic relationship designed to help you build a sense of inner strength and security.

Empathically Client-led

My style of working is also compassionately client-led, meaning that I aim to foster a sense of personal agency, allowing my client discovery of their own therapeutic healing process.

I can help you build confidence in your own inner intelligence, and through your tailored therapy can provide the conditions for you to grow and thrive emotionally.

Trauma Informed

I am experienced in supporting clients who are recovering from trauma and PTSD / CPTSD symptoms.

I am passionate about safely exploring these issues, keeping within your own window of tolerance.

I continue to invest in my training with regards to trauma and other issues, exploring new techniques to support your recovery.

Walk and Talk Therapy

I live in the High Peak area and am currently working towards setting up a therapy space here. In the meantime I offer video and phone therapy options, along with Walk and Talk therapy which has the advantage of utilising the healing effects of nature in combination with talking therapy. Connecting to nature and its metaphors can open up creative exploration and reflection which allows many clients to gain a deeper understanding of their healing process.

Alongside this, walking in a stunning natural environment can enable sensory soothing or stimulation and also enables many people to open up more effectively than the more formal, face-to-face environment of the therapy room.

For this reason it can be especially helpful for many neurodivergent clients who prefer less eye contact. I am knowledgeable about neurodivergent needs and am happy to discuss this when considering your therapy plan.

Walk and Talk Therapy is very effective for exploring Anxiety, Depression /Low Mood or Self-Esteem issues, but for more intense trauma work I recommend a more secure private setting.

ABOUT ME

My name is Rosie Parsons and I am an NCPS registered psychotherapeutic counsellor. I have experience in working with attachment, trauma and abuse, relationships and parenting issues. I can provide a secure, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore the issues you are facing. During the sessions I can provide attention and presence for you as you do this, creating a safe environment so that together we can shine a light on issues which you may feel are too big to tackle on your own.

My experience in working with abuse and trauma, along with my rigorous training also allows me to be very sensitive to the importance of confidentiality for my clients.
